The Raggedy Tree has a folkloric history in Ireland. There, it is a bush that stands by the side of the road. People hang artifacts, memories, and ribbons on the tree to represent their hopes and dreams. Mckenna's intention is to invite people in Tallahassee to take part in creating a Raggedy Tree that reflects a sense of place and the hopes, dreams, and appreciation of the local community.
